Polypyrrole material for the electrostatic discharge sensitivity mitigation of Al/SnO 2 energetic composites

چکیده

Nanothermites are composite energetic materials made of fuel and oxidizer nanoparticles characterized by impressive exothermic reactions (highly flame temperatures heat combustion releases). However, nanothermites suffer from their high electrostatic discharge (ESD) sensitivity that may be at the origin accidental ignitions during handling. The present study deals with use doped-polypyrrole conducting polymer in aluminum/tin (IV) oxide formulation (Al/SnO2). X-ray diffraction, Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, conductivity measurements, sensitivities tests were implemented to characterize polypyrrole-doped Al/SnO2 composite. results revealed a significant gradual ESD desensitization nanothermite (<0.14 mJ 246.40 mJ) as function amount (0 15 wt%). reactive properties polypyrrole-enriched verified an acceptable behavior was claimed. successful adding within nanocomposites is reported for first time.

Determination of the Relationship between Impact Sensitivity and Electrostatic Sensitivity of Nitro Energetic Compounds through Multiple Linear Regression Method

In this work the relationship between impact sensitivity and electrostatic sensitivity of energetic nitro compounds is investigated. Also, the most important molecular descriptors which have effect on this correlation are studied. The results are shown that the ratio of number of the oxygen atoms to hydrogen atoms  ( nO/nH), the number of amino groups(NH2)have an important roles in the proposed...

Macroporous polypyrrole-TiO2 composites with improved photoactivity and electrochemical sensitivity.

Macroporous polypyrrole (PPy)-TiO2 composites were prepared by in situ oxidative polymerization of pyrrole in the macropores of TiO2. The formation mechanism of the PPy nanoparticles, including nucleation and further growth, was proposed by studying the particle growth process with increasing reaction time. The special growth process favors the formation of good cohesion and stabilized interfac...

Role of Thermochemical Decomposition in Energetic Material Initiation Sensitivity

Catastrophic initiation of an energetic material consists of a complex, interactive, sequential train of mechanistic mechanical, physical, and chemical processes which occur over a finite time period and proceed from macroscopic into sub-microscopic composition levels (bulk > crystalline > molecular > atomic). Initiation results when these processes proceed at a rate which generates sufficient ...
